1. The Korean government will be holding the third round of negotiations concerning the imposition of
customs duties on rice with the U.S. in Washington on August 13, 2004.
2. As with the second round of negotiations, the Korean government is dispatching a delegation headed
by Mr. Lee Jae-gil, Ambassador for DDA Negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT),
and consisting of officials from relevant government agencies such as the Ministry of Agriculture and
Forestry, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, etc.
ㅇ Dr. Kim Choong-shil of Kyungpook University, who is the Chairman of “The Korean NGO’s Coalition for
the WTO Round concerning Agriculture, Environment and Livelihood,” will be accompanying the delegation.
3. Negotiations with candidate countries other than the U.S. will be pursued after a schedule is confirmed.
